(Radford, VA)  TJ Majors and the JR Motorsports Late Model team headed to Motor Mile Speedway for Saturday’s 100 lap NASCAR Late Model Division race. Friday tests and Saturday practices confirmed that the team has consistently improved their set-up and lap times.

Qualifying was cancelled, due to rain, and starting positions for the 100 lap race were determined by point standings. Having only raced twice this season at Motor Mile Speedway, the team started in 19th position out of 27 cars.

TJ fought his way from 19th to 10th position, when coming to the white flag, a spin in the front of the field sent half the field spinning down the front stretch. TJ was hit from behind and sent into the mix of spinning racecars resulting in severe damage to the right side of the #17. Race fans got their fill of action when the #94 car driven by Mike Looney was pinned under the #12 car of Dennis Holdren sending the race in red flag conditions for 30 minutes. No drivers were injured.

After a pit stop to assess damage, TJ resumed racing for a green-white-checker finish, finishing in 7th place. Frank Deiny, Jr. won from the pole, his sixth win of the season, followed by Chad Harris and Jason Mitcham.

With extensive damage to the nose and right side of the #17 late model, the team has a great deal of work to do this week to get ready for next Saturday’s race.
