(Radford, VA) The JR Motorsports late model team headed to Motor Mile Speedway on Friday to test the #17 late model for Saturday’s Marshall Concrete 200. Late in Friday’s test session, the team had unresolved motor problems and switched to a different motor Saturday morning.

The JR Motorsports late model team worked together to get the car ready in time for Saturday’s events. With only 10 laps of practice on the #17, TJ qualified in the 3rd position with a 16.49 second lap, behind Frank Deiny Jr. (16.44) and Jason Mitcham (16.46).

At the start of the race, TJ held the 3rd position as a major mid-field wreck down the front stretch sent the race into red flag conditions. Long green flag runs spread the field for the remainder of the first half. On lap 102, TJ battled for 2nd place with Jason Mitcham and continued side-by-side action, finally passing the #24 on lap 160. Majors headed to the front to challenge Frank Deiny Jr. for the top spot on lap 192. The #17 grabbed the lead and held a comfortable distance on Deiny as a caution came out on the white flag lap, bringing the field back together for a green-white-checker finish.

TJ held on to the lead and took the checkered flag as Denny Hamlin took the 2nd spot from Frank Deiny Jr. TJ and team celebrated in victory lane for their 1st time in the NASCAR late model division.
